French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (The City of Lost Children, Alien Resurrection, Amelie) might be making a return to the science fiction genre with a new Netflix movie titled Big Bug that will be tackling artificial intelligence.

Our pals over at ThePlaylist seemingly pieced together the clues via recent interviews along with information posted by French production site ScriptToClap.

Big Bug would be a story about artificial intelligence, a comedy with robots.

Filming is said to take place between April to May in Paris, France.

Netflix has been making investments in both domestic and foreign projects from established filmmakers.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Jean-Pierre has tackled robots as Alien Resurrection featured an android named Call, played by Winona Ryder.

Alien Resurrection was yet to another troubled production in the Alien franchise as the film penned by Joss Whedon underwent multiple revisions along with tinkering from producers and Jean-Pierre changing things during the shoot.

Originally, the film was going to focus on a clone of Newt and not Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley as producers had been trying to remove the pricey actress from the franchise over the years.

The streaming service hasn’t made the project official but it would be kind of interesting to see Jeunet return to the genre.
