WarnerMedia has officially announced today that their beloved Cartoon Network series Adventure Time would be making a comeback on the streaming service HBO Max, set to be launched in 2020.
Instead of the regular short episodes that would air on Cartoon Network, fans will be able to enjoy four-hour long specials titled BMO, Obsidian, Wizard City, and Together Again.
The new wave of specials will be under the main title of Adventure Time: Distant Lands and will be produced by Cartoon Network for HBO Max.
In the specials, we’ll see the return of Finn, Jake The Dog, Marceline The Vampire Queen, Princess Bubblegum, the adorable BMO the robot, and Peppermint Butler.
The first two to air in 2020 will be BMO and Obsidian.
Here are the synopsis of the four specials via TheHollywoodReporter.
“BMO” follows the lovable robot from the series. When there’s a deadly space emergency in the farthest reaches of the galaxy, there’s only one hero to call, and it’s probably not BMO — except this time, it is. Premieres in 2020.
“Obsidian” features Marceline and Princess Bubblegum as they journey to the imposing, beautiful Glass Kingdom — and deep into their tumultuous past — to prevent an earthshaking catastrophe. Premieres in 2020.
“Wizard City” centers on Peppermint Butler, starting over at the beginning as just another inexperienced Wizard School student. Mysterious events on campus cast suspicion on Pep and his checkered past; can he master the mystic arts in time to prove he’s innocent? Premiere date TBD.
“Together Again” reunites Finn and Jake to rediscover their brotherly bond and embark on the most important adventure of their lives. Premiere date TBD.

Adventure Time originally lasted for nine seasons on Cartoon Network before it came to a close back in 2018.
It’ll be certainly interesting to see if Adventure Time: Distant Lands will continue after these initial four specials as HBO Max continues to grow their original content for kids.
