Before taking roles like in Crazy Rich Asians, Michelle Yeoh had been better known as an action start with roles in Police Story 3: Super Cop, Tomorrow Never Dies, along with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Michelle is also no stranger to science fiction having roles in Danny Boyle’s Sunshine, Babylon A.D., and Star Trek: Discovery.
She will be joining a cast that includes Kate Winslet, Sam Worthington, Cliff Curtis, Zoe Salanda, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin, Edie Falco, and Brandan Cowell.
Filming is expected to begin next month and we assume it’ll take place at Stone Street Studios in Wellington, New Zealand. The primary stage location for the first film.
The franchise is now part of the Disney family after the acquisition of 21 Century Fox closes last month.
Avatar 2 has been set for release on December 18th, 2020.
