Action Flick ‘The Asset’ Starring Michael Keaton, Maggie Q, and Samuel L. Jackson Begins Filming In January – Directed By ‘Casino Royale’s Martin Campbell

Deadline reports that director Martin Campbell (Goldeneye, Casino Royale) and screenwriter Richard Wenk (The Equalizer, The Expendables 2) are teaming up for a new action-thriller for Millenium Media titled The Asset.

The film also has Oscar-winner Michael Keaton (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spotlight, Batman, Birdman), Maggie Q (Mission: Impossible III, Live Free or Die Hard, Fantasy Island), and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Spider-Man: Far From Home) attached to star.

Here is the synopsis of the action film.

Written by Richard Wenk (The Equalizer 2), the story follows Rembrandt (Keaton) and Anna (Maggie Q), two of the world’s premier assassins who share a mysterious past from Vietnam. For years, they traversed the globe competing for high-profile contracts. But when Anna’s mentor Moody (Jackson) is murdered, she and Rembrandt must form an uneasy alliance and return to Vietnam to track down his killer.

Production is said to begin on January 8th, 2020 with filming locales to include London, England, Bucharest, Romania, and Da Nang, Vietnam.

Martin Campbell is likely best known for directing Goldeneye and Casino Royale which launched both Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig eras of the Bond franchise. However, he’s been having a rough time with landing studio pictures after the disaster of Green Lantern.

He made some waves recently with the smaller budgeted action film The Foreigner starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan.

Richard Wenk was recently involved with writing Sony Pictures’ Kraven The Hunter, a solo film featuring the Spider-Man villain. Which would likely take place in the same universe as Venom, Morbius, and the upcoming Venom sequel.

He was also writing a script for Universal Soldier reboot.

Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton have prominent roles in Marvel/Sony’s solo Spider-Man franchise, it’ll be interesting to see if we’ll see The Vulture or Nick Fury return for Spider-Man 3 (expected to shoot over the summer of 2020).

A release date wasn’t mentioned in the report.
