During their presentation at CinemaCon, STX Entertainment announced that a third film in the female-led comedy Bad Moms is on the way.
The film tentatively titled Bad Moms’ Moms will center around Cheryl Hines, Susan Sarandon and Christine Baranski’s’ characters from Bad Moms Christmas, who played the mothers of the original Bad Moms film.
In announcing Bad Moms’ Moms, STX Films chief Adam Fogelson called the movie, “A whole new adventure that is attracting all sorts of great talent.”
Released in 2016, Bad Moms starred Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn, Kristen Bell, and Christina Applegate. The film proved to be a surprise hit grossing over $180 million on a $22 million budget. In 2017, Bad Moms Christmas followed grossing over $130 million, a dip from the first film but was still able be a profit for the studio.
At one point it was reported that a Bad Dads film was in the works, as well as a Bad Moms TV series. It is unclear if these projects are still in development or scrapped.
