After previously being the first to reveal Marvel’s plans to develop and release a feature film based on Jack Kirby’s The Eternals, our pals at MCUCosmic have another rumbling to share about another cosmic project in the works at the studio.

Today, they are reporting the rumor that a Nova movie is in development stages and are unaware which incarnation of the cosmic superhero they’d be attempting to use for the solo film.

According to a source that has been 100% in the past, such as telling me in October who Katherine Langford was in Avengers: Endgame, development on a Nova film has begun. There’s no word how far into development it is, so it could still be years away, but it’s apparently now underway.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige had spoken to ComicBook about the possibility of a Nova film during the promotional tour for Avengers: Infinity War, suggesting Nova has “immediate potential” to get his own movie.

“Nova is… if we have a big board with a bunch of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board. Because of the connection to the Guardians universe, because there are more than one examples to pull from in the comics that are interesting. And you’re absolutely right, he was in the earliest drafts of the [Guardians of the Galaxy].”

Like with Captain Marvel, the Nova comic book mantle has been held by multiple characters the two most notable are Richard Rider and more recently with the young version Sam Alexander. It’s unknown who’ll they will end up going with at this point.

Nova Corps. were first introduced by James Gunn in the first Guardians of The Galaxy film and were ultimately destroyed off-camera by Thanos during the events of Avengers: Infinity War, while securing the Power Stone which the Nova Corps. were holding on Xandar.

This news is being treated as a rumor so we should keep that mind until it gets confirmed.
