’28 Weeks Later’ Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo To Make Fantasy Thriller ‘Damsel’ For Netflix – Millie Bobby Brown Might Play Princess Elodie

Netflix projects keep piling up it seems.

Daniel Richtman has posted a casting grid on his Patreon page that has revealed a new fantasy film from Netflix titled Damsel and has 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo attached.

The fantasy thriller focuses on Princess Elodie, who thinks she is marrying Prince Henry only to find out that she is being sacrificed to a dragon.

The Spanish director is likely best known to western audiences thanks to his rage-virus flick 28 Weeks Later, a sequel to Danny Boyle’s fantastic 28 Days Later, that starred Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner, Idris Elba, and Imogen Poots.

28 WEEKS LATER: Six months after the original epidemic, the rage virus has all but annihilated the population of the British Isles. Nevertheless, the U.S. Army declares the danger past, and American soldiers arrive to restore order and begin reconstruction. Refugees return to British soil, but one of them carries a deadly secret: The virus is not gone and is even more dangerous than before.

Juan had been attached to direct a live-action adaptation of the Arthurian tale The Sword & The Stone for Disney at one point before the project stalled.

The film’s script was penned by screenwriter Dan Mazeau (The Wraith of The Titans).

Daniel also adds that Stranger Things and Godzilla vs Kong actress Millie Bobby Brown might be taking the main role of Princess Elodie, as she is in discussions with Netflix.

The dragon is a voice-over role which would suggest it will be a CGI character in the film.

Damsel is looking at a budget in the range of $70 million.

Millie recently worked alongside Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, The Witcher, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) on the Legendary film Enola Holmes, as she plays the titular role of Sherlock Holmes’ young sister with Cavill playing the Sherlock role.

Her other upcoming projects include the fourth season of Stranger Things and Godzilla vs Kong had been set to be released on November 2nd.
