It was recently announced that 20th Century Fox would be moving forward with their Flash Gordon after Matthew Vaughn has pivoted to focus on his Kingsman movies they’ve hired Overlord director Julius Avery to tackle their reboot.
HN Entertainment has now learned that 20th Century Fox and producers, and Avery are considering Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada as a potential filming location for their swashbuckling space opera flick. It’s not a shocking location for the studio as the studio has previously shot in the Canadian city for their recent films Deadpool, Deadpool 2, The Predator, and Bad Times At The El Royale.
Although NASA scientists are claiming the unexpected eclipse and strange “hot hail” are nothing to worry about, Dr. Hans Zarkov knows better and takes football star Flash Gordon and travel agent Dale Arden with him into space to rectify things. They land on planet Mongo, where the despot Ming the Merciless is attacking Earth out of pure boredom. With the help of a race of Hawkmen, Flash and the gang struggle to save their home planet.
Screenwriter Mark Protosevich will work off a previous draft from Star Trek Beyond’s Patrick McKay and John D. Payne. Matthew Vaughn’s Marv Films and John Davis’ (The Predator, Predator) Davis Entertainment will produce.
Production and release dates for Flash Gordon are currently unknown.
