Showtime has finally cast an actor in the role of Master Chief in their live-action Halo series, based on the video game franchise. They’ve cast Pablo Schreiber in the role with Aussie newcomer Yerin Ha also joining the science fiction action series as well according to a new report from TheHollywoodReporter.
Pablo Schreiber (American Gods, Orange Is the New Black) will star as the Spartan commando. No word on whether Schreiber’s version of the character will remain masked like his video game counterpart.
Joining Schreiber is Australian newcomer Yerin Ha, who will play a newly created character in the Halo universe, Quan Ah. Quan Ah is described as a “shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both.”
Pablo is best known for roles in American Gods, Michael Bay’s 13 Hours, Den of Thieves, Orange Is The New Black, and Dwayne Johnson’s Skyscraper.
Pinky Blinders director Otto Bathurst recently replaced Rupert Wyatt.
The series is said to begin filming this summer in Budapest, Hungary.
Showtime has yet to announce when Halo will begin airing, but 2020 feels like a good bet to make.
