TheDailyMail’s Baz Bamigboye is back with some new location/production information for the untitled Bond 25. Baz now reports that filming will kick-off on location in Jamaica and he also confirms that Norway will indeed be part of the shoot as well. Local Norwegian officials had previously announced that the production had taken advantage of the country’s filming tax incentives and applied to shoot some scenes there.

Filmmaker Cary Joji Fukunaga and a small crew are heading to Norway to shoot a frozen lake before it thaws. The footage will be incorporated into the pre-credit scenes for Bond 25, starring Daniel Craig.

It’s interesting to note that Danny Boyle, who withdrew as director, had wanted to film an iced-over lake in Canada. Principal filming will take place in Jamaica and at studios in the UK. The latest version of the screenplay is still being written.

The Jamacia location could explain why they were originally looking at Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o to play a new female MI6 Agent (Lupita reportedly can’t take the role), as Jamaica is part of the commonwealth and would mean that MI6 would be active there as they were in various other countries linked to the United Kingdom. Not to mention Jamaica is also where author Ian Fleming has an estate called Goldeneye the locale could be a wink to Fleming. Previous movies Dr. No and Live & Let Die shot scenes near the estate.

You might remember that Daniel Craig’s first Bond installment Casino Royale spent most of the first act in the Bahamas, returning to the Caribbean would be a nice bookend.

The other day, franchise producer Barbara Brocolli debunked that the film’s title would be Shatterhand as posted on the franchise’s official Instagram account.

Joining Daniel Craig in his final outing as James Bond includes Rami Malek as the yet-to-be-named main villain, Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann, Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, and Ben Whishaw as Q.

Cary Joji Fukunaga, who will be directing the 25th film worked on the script alongside recent screenwriting addition Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum).

The bulk of the stage filming will be taking place at the franchise’s longtime homestead Pinewood Studios UK.

Bond 25’s latest release date has been set for April 8th, 2020.

I am very pleased that James Bond is once again “coming home.” I believe the first Bond film (Dr. No) was filmed here (in Jamaica), as was the popular Live and Let Die. Haven’t watched a Bond flick in a while, but would be interesting to see this one.
